ABOUT ABHISHEK MALICHKAR
I am currently pursuing MS in Operations Research at Columbia University. My primary focus is on enhancing my proficiency in quantitative methodologies. During my undergraduate years, I had the privilege of leading a team of 28 aero enthusiasts as the Vice Captain of our collegiate team, DJS Skylark. This leadership role allowed me to represent India in an international competition held in Dallas, resulting in 6 podium finishes and an overall rank of 3. Through this experience, I not only grasped the value of teamwork and strategic execution but also had the opportunity to showcase our team\'s capabilities on an international stage. During my time with the DJS Skylark team, I spearheaded scoring strategies that played a pivotal role in judging aircraft performance. These strategies were meticulously developed using the Python programming language and the MATLAB optimization toolbox. Our dedication and meticulous planning paid off, as the team achieved a remarkable 3rd position worldwide for aircraft performance. This accomplishment stands as a testament to our teamwork and technical proficiency. Furthermore, I worked on devising patterns to visually represent these strategies in the design report. It was immensely gratifying when our efforts resulted in the design report securing 1st position worldwide. This experience not only showcased our technical expertise but also highlighted our ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, a skill I believe will be invaluable in the world of Operations Research. My research internship at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay exposed me to 3D modeling techniques using Python programming language to research key parameters affecting the bending of inflatable airfoils. The MS program at Columbia presents an exceptional opportunity to bridge theory and practice, enabling me to contribute effectively to decision-making and optimization challenges. I am eager to learn and connect with fellow professionals dedicated to advancing the field and making a meaningful impact through quantitative modeling.
