Designed and analyzed a large truss structure located in the GS1 Tank to measure propellant levels. The truss frames were machined from a single piece of aluminium sheet stock; fastened together using NAS fasteners. Analysis assessments: buckling, crippling, static strength, pin bending, channel fittings, fatigue and bolted joints. Optimized structure to withstand a number of flight cycles with temperatures varying between cryogenic fluid and hot repressurization gas. Supported manufacturing through an outside vendor, providing manufacturing support and disposition of non-conformances. Created large install drawings to guide the installation of slosh baffles within the GS1 Tank. Proposed removal of a ring of slosh baffles within the GS1 Tank to New Glenn Chief Engineers, saving 100 lbm of dry mass while maintaining vehicle stability and control. Monitored strain gages on the GS1 forward and aft skirts during testing as responsible engineer. Supported structural and proof testing of the 7 meter diameter tank by selecting critical strain gage locations based on FEM.
