As a Chemical Engineering intern at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), I applied my knowledge of process flow diagrams and PIDs to analyze the Crude Stabilization Unit (CSU) in detail. I understood each train of MUT, BUT, and HUT oil lines along with its equipment like HP Separator, LP Separator, Degasser, Dehydrator, Crude Heat Exchanger, Crude Heater, Crude Filter, Main Storage Tank, Intermediate Storage Tank, etc. I also analyzed the importance of utility operations of the Additional Processing Unit (APU) by differentiating natural and mechanical draft and crossflow and counterflow cooling towers. Additionally, I studied the functions of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and boilers for steam generation. I recorded real-time data of the control room managing the Condensate Fractionating Unit (CFU). This experience has enhanced my understanding of the oil and gas industry and prepared me for future roles in process optimization and management.
