About Abhinav Madduri
I recently graduated from Rice University with a double degree in Biochemistry and Neuroscience, and have extensive experience in research, community service, and leadership. From September 2024 - June 2025, I will be in Belgium conducting antimicrobial resistance research as a Fulbright scholar with Dr. Tom Coenye. Working in the lab of Dr. Tom Coenye at Ghent University from September 2024 - June 2025 to investigate antimicrobial susceptibility and biofilm formation in the bacterial strain Pseudomonas aeruginosa- Selected as 1 of 3 grantees from Fulbright Belgium to attend the annual Fulbright EU-NATO Seminar, where grantees learned about the responsibilities, partnerships, and future goals of EU institutions and NATO in the context of current global events- Selected as 1 of 2 research grantees to present my work at the Fulbright Belgium mid-year symposium. I spoke about my investigation into the role of the nppA1A2BCD gene cluster in the antibiotic resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms.
