ABOUT ABHINAV DUBEY

I am a Master’s student at the Hertie School of Governance, specialising in Data Science for Public Policy, with a focus on leveraging data and technology for evidence-based policymaking.Currently, I am a part-time Student Research Assistant at the Weizenbaum Institute, working on algorithmic auditing. I also serve in the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group and Policy Hub on Future Space Technologies, contributing to the identification and advocacy of emerging technologies in space governance and sustainability.I bring hands-on experience at the intersection of space policy, technology governance, and data science. I worked as a Junior Policy Fellow at the Policy Analytics and Insights Unit, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, on scientometric studies, global innovation ecosystems, technology policies, and trade intelligence.Earlier, as a Research & Development Associate at the Indian Space Association (ISpA), I contributed to shaping the Indian Space Policy 2023, Telecommunication Act 2023, FDI Policy for Space, and Space Activities Bill, while addressing issues like space data accessibility, spectrum allocation, and space for SDGs. In addition to this, I also served as a Working Group member of the Global Satellite Roadmap. My research also spans Social NLP, geoinformatics, and Cognitive Science. As a volunteering Data Science Researcher at the Community Climate Lab, I co-developed an AI-driven methodology combining social media and geospatial data for disaster monitoring and management, culminating in a presentation at the AGU Fall Meeting.
