About Abel Hastings
My passion is making the teams I lead more effective through transformation with a steadfast focus on “Stabilize, Standardize, Simplify”. This mantra has been a key for me as I have grown teams and organizations towards profitability and achievement. Business Systems: Adding systematic order to how programs move through Fujifilm’s pipeline was a key improvement. I catalyzed and led the development of Fujifilm’s 6-step program review process. As a result, programs move though the stages of development more efficiently and with greater alignment between project teams and site leadership.Technical Systems:As Fujifilm’s late-stage opportunities grew, we needed to improve the reliability PPQ and commercial readiness. I lead the development of a systematic approach that dramatically improved our effectiveness and therefore increased our ability to capture market share. Organizational Structure and Culture:In each team I have led, I have aligned the structure with the business need and instituted new tools to ensure each person knows how their day-to-day activities align with departmental monthly goals, quarterly functional metrics, and site-wide annual success. This clear mission has built a sense of ownership and empowerment that results in a successful team.Pharmaceutical development Expertise: The benefit of being part of a high-performing CDMO is that I have seen the key components of success and the major challenges up-close personal. I learn from these with each project. I have shepherded more than 100 pharmaceutical products, lead more than 15 PPQ campaigns, and helped launch and monitor 8 approved products. My development experience includes break-through designation molecules, biosimilars, antibodies, vaccines, novel fusion proteins, and enzyme replacements across nearly all expression systems including mammalian cell culture, insect cell culture, bacterial and yeast expression, and transgenic systems. And I have experience with multi-national regulatory submissions and dozens of audits and inspections. I leverage this experience every day.
