About Abdullah Jehanzeb
Abdullah Jehanzeb is a dedicated agricultural and rural development enthusiast with over two years of professional experience in stakeholder engagement, community capacity development, and sustainable farm transitions spanning across public and private sectors. He secured the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, in 2022, to pursue a masters in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security from the Royal Agricultural University, England. Passing that with a distinction, he followed it up with a masters in Global Development from Cornell University where his concentration was International Agricultural and Rural Development. His capstone research on Hello Tractor, an innovative AgriTech startup operationalizing an \"Uber\" for tractors model in Africa, was funded, and supported by the Cornell Institute of Digital Agriculture. His area of focus is uplifting underproductive and under-resourced small-scale farmers using digital technologies that result in data-driven decision making. Throughout his four years of professional and academic experience, Abdullah has undertaken tasks ranging from project design and farmer outreach to extensive literature review and data collection. He has also honed his writing and communication skills by writing policy briefs, case studies and grant proposals along with securing strategic partnerships and moderating seminars and focus groups. Moreover, he also possesses monitoring and evaluation expertise. Having engaged in both realms, Abdullah is passionate about bridging the gap between research and practice. He has conducted field research in multiple emerging markets including Nigeria and Kenya, taking a keen interest in their digital agriculture ecosystems. His diverse experiences across different regions and cultures have equipped him with a unique perspective on global agricultural challenges and opportunities. Therefore, he is driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on poverty reduction and enhanced food security in low-income countries, recognizing agricultural and rural development as a powerful vehicle for achieving these goals.
