ABOUT ABDULLAH SARHAN

A data scientist with more than 10 years of academic and professional experience utilizing machine learning in solving real-world challenges. The number and diversity of the projects involved with have elevated my technical performance and leadership skills to better enable positive societal impact. Additionally, I have delivered multiple invited talks, workshops, and courses locally and internationally related to data science. Further, multiple awards and grants have been received in support of my research. Further, I have participated in several competitions where my work was highly recognized and won first place awards. Through my studies and network opportunities offered by the University of Calgary, immense efforts have been poured into projects that resulted in great potential to enhance healthcare delivery in both high-income and resource-scarce countries. These experiences have rooted my desire to continually address healthcare inequities and work with multidisciplinary teams to solve related challenges. As a lifelong learner who believes in growth and failing forward, I seek roles that could further expand my knowledge and skillset in the field of applied data science. Having already published several relevant articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, my main research interests include machine learning, medical image analysis, computational and translational medicine, natural language processing, network analysis, digital signal processing, and virtual reality. I have also served on program committees of various international and local conferences.
