As a Teaching Partner in a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) secondary school, my role is centered around supporting students who experience a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral needs. I work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every learner can succeed. My focus is on building trusting relationships, promoting positive behaviour, and helping young people overcome barriers to engagement and achievement. I bring patience, empathy, and resilience to my role, and I am deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the students I support.Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Support: Assist the lead teacher with lesson delivery, differentiation, and managing classroom routines to ensure all students can access learning.Individual Support: Work 1:1 or in small groups with students who require additional emotional, behavioral, or academic support.Behaviour Regulation: Help students develop self-regulation strategies, de-escalating situations calmly and consistently using SEMH-informed approaches.Pastoral Care: Provide daily emotional support, build strong relationships, and act as a trusted adult for students who may have experienced trauma or instability.Sports and Enrichment Activities: Actively engage in physical activities such as football, badminton, and other sports to help students build confidence, teamwork skills, and positive relationships.Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, counsellors, and external agencies to ensure consistent, holistic support.Safe Environment: Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour to maintain a safe and nurturing school environment Adaptation and Flexibility: Respond to changing needs, adapting support strategies to ensure every student feels understood, valued, and able to learn.
