ABOUT ABDALLAH TOM
Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow | Justice-Oriented, Trauma Informed Mental Healthcare | Liberatory & Community-Based PsychiatryI am a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital at Harvard Medical School; passionate about building equitable, community-rooted systems of mental healthcare. My work centers liberatory, trauma-informed, and justice-oriented psychiatry, bridging clinical practice, policy, and advocacy to transform how care is delivered and experienced.Grounded in cultural humility and systemic awareness, I approach psychiatry as both a medical and sociopolitical practice — one that recognizes the impact of displacement, racism, and intergenerational trauma on mental health. My clinical and academic interests include public and community psychiatry, global mental health, and child development within social and structural contexts. As a current APA/APAF Leadership Fellow (2024–2026), I’m focused on advancing mental health equity, leadership training, and policy development for the next generation of psychiatrists. I’m equally committed to mentorship and community-building among trainees and early-career physicians.Let’s connect if you’re working to reimagine psychiatry through the lenses of justice, belonging, and radical compassion — or if you’re building collaborative spaces that bring healing and humanity back to medicine.
