As a participant in the UNESCO Youth as Researchers (YAR) Programme 2025, I engaged in an 8-week collaborative research and policy development project focusing on inclusive digital transformation to bridge the rural–urban divide. The program was organized by UNESCO Jakarta in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), hosting the first local pilot project in Aceh.My research team conducted a study titled “Understanding of Digital Literacy of FKIP USK Students in Responding to Disinformation on Social Media in Banda Aceh.” We explored how students navigate online information and identified key challenges related to critical thinking, fact-checking habits, and ethical media use.Key achievements and measurable outcomes include: Conducted 5 in-depth qualitative interviews and data analysis using the Miles & Huberman interactive model. Produced a policy brief and digital research poster presented at the YAR Local Workshop hosted by USK and UGM. Proposed four actionable policy recommendations to enhance digital literacy education and counter disinformation through curriculum integration and community engagement. Collaborated with 14 young researchers from various disciplines, fostering teamwork and academic exchange.This experience strengthened my skills in research design, policy analysis, and digital ethics, while deepening my understanding of how education and governance intersect in building an informed, resilient, and socially responsible youth generation.
