ABOUT ABBIE M
I am a writer, theorist, and HR and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion professional with over ten years of experience across the education and not for profit sectors. My work sits at the intersection of race, gender, disability, and institutional power. I examine how organisations, particularly in higher education and public systems, produce exclusion through everyday practices such as recruitment, leadership norms, language, and policy. I focus on how inclusion operates in practice and what it means for those consistently positioned at its margins. Alongside critique, I also build through course development, publishing, and creative practice. I create resources and approaches that move beyond performative inclusion towards meaningful structural change. I am the Founder and Director of Velare Intimates Ltd, an inclusive lingerie brand in development centred on comfort, dignity, and accessibility. I also co lead GlobalEdge Academy, delivering professional communication and leadership training, currently focused in Zimbabwe with plans for broader development. My interests include inclusive leadership, organisational culture, policy development, and questions of language, identity, and access.
