ABOUT ABBIE FOY
A passionate safety professional with the desire to deliver effective safety support and continue to impact on the innovative outlook on safe working behaviours and culture. I believe that safety is predominantly driven by positive relationships and effective communication, to fully understand diverse workforces, the tasks that they undertake and their involvement of forming the most successful safety programs. I perform to a high standard and welcome a varied and fast paced workload across multiple industries, including construction, environmental, highways, energy, rail, design, and the social sector, managing and prioritising tasks as necessary. My previous career and education in psychology and human behaviours drives the desire to work directly with workforces to positively impact upon safe delivery of a project. I am a strong advocate for mental health across industries that are still developing a need for understanding and supporting staff. I currently work as a HSE Advisor for the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) project Network Rail. This multi-disciplinary project involves working directly for Bam Nuttall on the construction element of the works, assisting project teams with advice and site support in health, safety and wellbeing. As works progress this will be heavily involved in construction activities which I will be supervising and supporting on site location. Additionally, a main focus for my role is working collaboratively with the CDM assurance team across organisations within the alliance to ensure compliance and quality safety in design through communication and planning. Previous roles involve HSE manager within the Energy Design sector, SHE Advisor for a National Highways venture, HSE Advisor for Water and Environment in Design and HSE Advisor on a site based CDM construction project. I have recently completed my AIM Level 6 Diploma in Health and Safety and plan to work towards CMIOSH in the coming months. I have also recently completed my NEBOSH Fire Certificate, I believe that it is important to continue to develop knowledge and competency in such developing role and industry.
