ABOUT ABBEY WELTMAN

As a journalism intern at Access Intelligence, I write and edit articles for VIA SATELLITE, a leading publication in the satellite industry. I cover topics such as satellite launches, contracts, innovations, and trends, using my skills in news writing, science journalism, and business journalism. I also assist the editorial team with research, fact-checking, and proofreading.I am a senior at the University of Maryland, majoring in journalism and minoring in business analytics. I have gained valuable experience and knowledge from working as a reporter at Capital News Service, a student-powered news organization that covers Maryland and beyond. There, I participated in an investigative project on the future of youth football, especially in African-American communities across the country. I interviewed various stakeholders, such as players, parents, coaches, and league officials, to understand their perspectives and experiences. I explored the social, cultural, and health implications of this topic, and how it affects the lives of young people.I am passionate about journalism and its role in informing and engaging the public. I am eager to join a team that values diversity, innovation, and impact, and that can help me grow as a journalist and a leader. I am proficient in content creation, social media management, and graphic design, as demonstrated by my role as the vice president of marketing for the Management and Organization Society, a student club that promotes academic and professional development. I am also familiar with data analysis, visualization, and storytelling, as shown by my coursework and projects. I am always curious and willing to learn new skills and topics, and I welcome feedback and collaboration.
