Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business requirements and design robust and scalable IT systems. This involves selecting appropriate hardware, software, and networking components to meet performance, reliability, and security objectives- Installing, configuring, and deploying server hardware, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and other infrastructure components. System Engineers ensure that systems are set up correctly and integrated seamlessly with existing IT environments- Performing day-to-day administration tasks such as user management, access control, system monitoring, and performance optimization. They troubleshoot technical issues, apply software patches and updates, and ensure the smooth operation of critical systems- Integrating servers, storage devices, and networking equipment to create a cohesive IT infrastructure. System Engineers configure network protocols, routing, and security settings to ensure seamless communication and data transfer across the network- Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect IT systems and data from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and malware attacks. This includes configuring firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption mechanisms, as well as conducting security audits and risk assessments- Developing and implementing backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity in the event of system failures, natural disasters, or other disruptions. System Engineers regularly back up critical data, test backup systems, and document recovery procedures- Developing scripts and automation tools to streamline system administration tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce manual errors. System Engineers may use scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate routine processes such as configuration management, deployment, and monitoring.
