As a Research Assistant at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, I have been working on applying advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to analyze corporate climate disclosures from S&P 500 firms. My research focuses on extracting structured information from unstructured PDF reports, modeling key–value relationships using BERT-based architectures, and developing automated pipelines for text extraction, entity recognition, and data standardization. This work bridges the gap between unstructured document data and structured research datasets that can support large-scale business and sustainability analysis.The broader goal of this project is to perform sentiment analysis and interpret how firms communicate their climate strategies, goals, and environmental commitments. By quantifying tone, language patterns, and reporting structures, the research aims to uncover meaningful insights into how organizations frame their sustainability narratives. This work contributes to a deeper understanding of corporate behavior and the evolving landscape of climate communication across industries.
