As a BESS Project Engineer at TruGrid Power, I have been directly responsible for engineering coordination, design management, and implementation oversight of five utility-scale 10 MW BESS projects in Texas. My key responsibilities and accomplishments across these projects include:Engineering & Design Management:Led full-cycle project engineering, from conceptual design to Issued-for-Construction (IFC) drawings, ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, UL, and interconnection requirements.Coordinated interdisciplinary design reviews for electrical layouts, grounding systems, MV/HV interconnections, SCADA integration, and protection schemes.Reviewed and approved vendor submittals and equipment specifications, including BESS containers, PCS (power conversion systems), transformers, reclosers, and switchgear.Construction & Implementation:Supervised field installation of electrical systems including trenching, conduit installation, cable pulling, and terminations.Oversaw interconnection facility design and network integration, coordinating with utility engineers and contractors to meet utility interconnection standards and schedules.Coordinated on-site inspections and QA/QC reviews to ensure construction adhered to approved designs and safety codes.Commissioning Support:Provided engineering support for system energization, relay protection testing, and functional performance verification of BESS components.Facilitated coordination among construction crews, commissioning teams, vendors, and the utility operator for successful progression through commissioning checklists.Addressed site RFIs, managed punch lists, and resolved technical issues encountered during the commissioning process.
