I\'m Aashiq Muhamed, a PhD researcher at Carnegie Mellon University\'s Machine Learning Department, where I focus on the intersection of Machine Learning and Systems- with an emphasis on alignment, safety, interpretability, and societal impacts of AI.Previously, I was an Applied Scientist at Amazon, where I worked on deploying scalable ML solutions across product search, recommendation systems, and generative models — translating cutting-edge research into production-grade AI systems.My research spans: Collaborative and privacy-preserving LLMs (e.g, CoRAG) Interpretable sparse architectures for rare concept detection (e.g, SSAEs) Precision unlearning methods for LLM safety (e.g, Dynamic SAE Guardrails) Efficient distillation & retrieval in real-world recommender systemsI hold an MS from Stanford University and a B.Tech from IIT Roorkee, where I was awarded the President’s Gold Medal.
