About Aarush Subramanian

I’m an Economics and Political Science double major at with a minor in Computer Science at Vanderbilt University, interested in the intersection of development, governance, and policy. I’m especially drawn to questions about why opportunity is distributed so unevenly across communities and countries, and how institutions, incentives, and public policy can either reduce or reinforce those gaps over time.My interest in this space is personal. Growing up, I became aware of inequality not just as an abstract concept but as something visible in everyday life. Over time, that awareness evolved into a deeper curiosity about structural change: what actually works, what scales, and how progress can be measured beyond good intentions. That curiosity has shaped both the academic path I’m pursuing and the practical experiences I’m building alongside it.Professionally, I’m interested in impact-driven strategy and consulting, as well as roles that sit at the overlap of business and public service. I enjoy work that involves structured problem solving, clear communication, and collaboration across different perspectives. I’m motivated by the challenge of taking complex, messy problems and turning them into actionable insights that lead to real outcomes.At Vanderbilt, I’ve pursued opportunities that let me apply these interests beyond the classroom, including consulting-style projects and campus organizations focused on strategy, leadership, and professional growth. I’m also shaped by international and cross-cultural environments, which have taught me how to listen carefully, stay intellectually open, and work effectively with people who approach the same issue through completely different lenses.I’m currently looking to keep building experience in consulting, development, policy research, and strategy roles where I can contribute with discipline, curiosity, and a strong focus on execution.
