About Aarti Mathur

I am a founding engineer at Turnover Labs, where I work on translating electrochemical technologies from research into real-world deployment. My role spans catalyst development, CO2 electrolyzer testing, and scaling, along with leading technical scoping and site readiness for pilot systems. I work across engineering and commercialization to move technologies from lab-scale results towards field implementation.I earned my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, where my research focused on electrocatalytic and photo-electrocatalytic systems for water splitting. My work centered on understanding and improving catalyst and semiconductor interfaces using a combination of electrochemical experiments, high-resolution imaging, and analytical modeling. This included fabricating lower-cost catalyst systems with improved stability and activity, and studying how nanoscale interfacial properties impact overall device performance.My goal is to use my background in chemical engineering to advance sustainable energy solutions, grounded in the belief that many of our biggest challenges are rooted in chemistry and can be mitigated through innovative engineering.
