My role encompasses:Legislative Responsibilities:• Crafting, debating, and voting on state legislation that impacts education, healthcare, public safety, economic development, and environmental sustainability.• I serve on several crucial Senate committees, including the Joint Committee on Information Management and Technology and the Joint Committee On Ways and Means Subcommittee On Transportation and Economic Development, where I work on in-depth policy analysis and recommendations.Constituent Services:• Actively engage with constituents through town hall meetings, community events, and direct consultations to understand their concerns and provide assistance.• Advocate for constituent needs within the legislative process, ensuring their voices are heard and addressed.Policy Advocacy:• Championing initiatives that promote sustainable development, equitable education, and accessible healthcare.• Led efforts to pass key legislation that addresses state issues on climate change, social justice, and public health.Collaboration and Oversight:• Collaborating with fellow legislators, government officials, advocacy groups, and community leaders to build consensus and drive positive legislative outcomes.Public Communication:• Keeping the public informed through social media, newsletters, and press releases to maintain transparency and foster trust in the legislative process.• I have been instrumental in passing legislation on extending Broadband throughout Oregon, creating a cybersecurity “Center of Excellence” to address Cybersecurity issues and training, and focusing on developing Artificial Intelligence legislation. I am consistently working towards policies that enhance the quality of life for all residents of Oregon.
