ABOUT AARON LOGAN
An entrepreneur with more than 660 patents to his name, he negotiated the license of a precious metal E-waste technology to The Royal Mint.Aaron currently works at Excir, a Calgary Startup focused on the ethical and sustainable extraction and refinement of precious metals from waste materials, such as E-waste, as the Chief Executive Officer. Recently, Aaron founded and launched a Scotch company, Ór Leaghan (“liquid gold”), raising $3.5 million for its launch. He also serves as an advisor to five companies, whose products range from pharma and food to sensors and batteries. “The impact I’ve had is probably just allowing people’s visions of grand ideas to come to fruition,” he says.A self-described “commercialization and intellectual property deal structure guru,” Aaron Logan helps vet innovators’ ideas and then helps them find a commercial path and a strategic partner. With more than 660 patents to his name, he has founded and divested businesses and intellectual property with a shareholder and corporate value aggregate benefit of over $300 million. Aaron has been the lead negotiator on several significant contracts and IP licence agreements for licensing of core technology and acquiring licences to technology with Fortune 500 companies, each agreement exceeding $20m. Additionally, Aaron has raised (through dilutive and non-dilutive means) over $50m in his roles with various startups. Prior to his present roles, Aaron was one of five founders of Evolution Engineering, a company that was grown from 5 people with one office in Calgary - to 113 people across three North American locations and sustainable revenues annually. Aaron led the Engineering and Intellectual Property teams at Evolution Engineering as the Vice President, Engineering. Aaron has over 15+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry. Aaron has held roles in manufacturing, field operations, repair and maintenance, new product development, and sustaining engineering. Aaron holds a First-Class Honors Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Engineering from Queens University, as well as a Distinction (First-Class Honors) Masters in Global Business from Oxford University, and holds the P.Eng, Professional Engineer designation.Mr. Logan enjoys road cycling, motorcycles, cars, backcountry backpacking, backcountry snowboarding, and is a beer and whiskey enthusiast.
