About Aaron Nazarian

Aaron A. Nazarian is Principal Scientist in Research at Amgen, where he has made important contributions to the discovery, screening and characterization of multiple therapeutic candidates. Aaron has broad expertise with assay development and miniaturization, high-throughput screening, laboratory automation technologies, and in vitro characterization of large and small molecules (including antibody, peptide, and novel multi-specific modalities). His strong analytical and laboratory automation skills have led to the successful implementation of binding and functional assays in the fields of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), ion channels, integrins, kinases and E3 Ligases. Currently in Small Molecule Therapeutic Discovery, Aaron manages the High-Throughput Assays team. As a core member of Automated Screening Platforms within Lead Discovery & Characterization, Aaron has directly & collaboratively contributed to 50+ Ultra High-Throughput Screening (UHTS) campaigns for high-quality small molecule hit identification. He was involved from inception in 2015 with the implementation of Amgen’s 1536-well micro titer plate format capable UHTS robotic automated screening platform. Previously in Protein Sciences, Aaron contributed to the early discovery & screening efforts of antibody molecules targeting complex receptors and membrane bound targets, which include AMG 181 in clinical development for IBD and AMG 334 (erenumab) for the treatment of migraine. In 2011 Aaron joined the Bioassay & Profiling group, where he further contributed to assay development enhancing Amgen’s biologics identification and characterization capabilities. Specifically, he developed and established a high-capacity T-cell dependent cellular cytotoxicity (TDCC) assay platform for the screening of Bispecific T-Cell Engaging (BiTE) antibodies. Aaron\'s significant contributions to the assessment of 15+ targets accelerated Amgen’s BiTE discovery research pipeline that ultimately advanced into a portfolio of multiple Oncology therapeutic candidates in clinical development, including AMG 757 (tarlatamab) for SCLC & AMG 427 for AML.Prior to joining Amgen in 2005, Aaron conducted academic research studies to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of mammalian gene regulation in the immune system in the laboratory of Stephen T. Smale (UCLA/ HHMI). Aaron received his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, magna cum laude, in Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics (MIMG) from The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2003.#mycompany
