About Aaron Mondell Anderson
If the Silicon Valley has spent the past two decades defined by the ethos of \"move fast, break things, and build a billion dollar company in a weekend\", I believe the coming decades will look radically different. The next big tech innovations are transforming industries like healthcare, agriculture, governance, transportation, and energy - industries where if you \"move fast and break things\" you just might kill somebody. And this means policy makers will have a much more important role to play in tech innovation. It also means that entrepreneurs who understand how to navigate this policy world will have a significant competitive advantage.Furthermore, the collision of tech and policy is playing out in additional arenas. From the insidious nature of the Valley\'s \"bro culture\" and what this means for women and minorities in tech, to the perceived threat of artificial intelligence eliminating millions of jobs, there\'s a tech-lash coming against the world of innovation. Indeed, with our social media platforms in the news recently about privacy rights, there\'s a real fear that technology could disrupt fundamental institutions like democracy, capitalism, and the free press.Of course, I\'m optimistic about the future of tech and truly believe that the transformation of the aforementioned industries will bring prosperity and opportunity like never before. It\'s one thing to make a killer app that improves your dating prospects, and a whole other to build the startup that will feed a billion more people. But we need to make sure policy maker and innovators are talking to each other so we\'re creating markets, not stunting them. This intersection of tech and policy is what I\'m exploring.
