ABOUT AARON NICHOLS
I\'m a Senior AI and Innovation Engineer at Atwell where I lead AI integration, training, and tool development across the organization.My previous background was in water resources engineering perfoming drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS 1D/2D, FLO-2D, HEC-HMS, SWM M), CLOMR/LOMR floodplain work, and GIS (ArcGIS, QGIS).What I focus on now- Developing AI strategy, policies, training and leading the internal AI Community of Practice- Prototyping and deploying custom machine learning, AI agent-powered tools to streamline AEC workflows- Working internally with subject matter experts to build AI tools for their workflows that meet their specifications- Developing automations for hydrology/hydraulic modeling, GIS and Civil-3DI also created the \"ChatGPT for Water Resources Engineers\" course, have spoken and developed AI courses several times for the Australian Water School, and made an appearance on the Full Momentum podcast discussing AI applications for HEC-RAS.AI is already capable of changing the nature of work forever. The challenge I\'m focused on now is integrating these tools into core business processes, driving adoption, and delivering measurable impact.
