ABOUT AARON V. BURRELL

I am a business counselor who practices in the area of commercial litigation, appellate law, and labor and employment law. I also advise minority business enterprises on a wide array of corporate matters. I’m also the co-chair of my firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.In my litigation practice, I’ve prevailed in numerous intricate, commercial litigation matters in both state and federal trial courts and courts of appeal.• Performed as lead counsel for national print advertising publisher in actions involving contract disputes and business tort matters.• Achieved summary disposition of claims in business tort actions involving fraudulent inducement and fraudulent concealment.• Obtained summary disposition against claims of wrongful foreclosure and breach of related state and federal statutes.• Successfully represented insurance companies in claims alleging wrongful denial of policy benefits; negotiated multiple favorable settlements.• Achieved summary disposition of claims in business tort action under the Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act and successor liability principles.In my labor and employment practice, I have defended employers in discrimination and unfair-labor practice claims before administrative agencies in addition to state and federal courts. I’ve counseled on the employment relationship, including hiring, discipline, and the creation and enforcement of employment agreements.• Acted as lead counsel for a national automotive manufacturer for union grievance arbitrations.• Advised clients on compliance with – and disputes involving – the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the National Labor Relations Board, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, and the Michigan Worker’s Disability Act.• Researched and drafted EEOC responses involving age and race discrimination claims, litigated Fair Labor Standards Act actions in federal court, and counseled clients on non-compete provisions in employment agreements.• Successfully defended numerous employers against claims of discrimination in state and federal courts and administrative agencies.I also work with minority business enterprises on various corporate matters.• Advised clients on corporate director disputes and a variety of internal corporate affairs.• Drafted stock purchase agreements, stock assignment agreements, and stock certificates to resolve shareholder disputes.
