I am a member of the national litigation team at Duncan Cotterill. I specialise in insurance law and commercial litigation. I act on a wide range of commercial disputes. I also act for liability and general insurers advising on indemnity issues and defending insured claims. My insurance experience is diverse, and includes professional negligence claims (particularly engineers, lawyers and insurance brokers), public liability policies, directors and officers policies (particularly claims by minority shareholders and investors), course of construction (“all risks”) policies, property policies (material damage, home and contents), and the interplay between primary and excess layers of insurance. I enjoy the variation in this work and the issues I encounter with each new claim. I have developed a particular interest in assisting insurers with policy coverage.Since being admitted in I have appeared in the Court of Appeal, and regularly in the High Court and District Court. I also regularly assist clients at mediation and at judicial settlement conferences.I am a member of the New Zealand Insurance Law Association and the Society of Construction Law New Zealand.

I am a New Zealand lawyer specialising in insurance law and commercial litigation. I have been a member of the Duncan Cotterill national Litigation & Disputes Resolution team since April 2012. I previously practised for five years at Singleton Urquhart LLP in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I have assisted clients in New Zealand and Canada on a wide array of disputes, including insurance, professional liability, contract, negligence, construction, and company and governance disputes. I have acted for liability and general insurers in both New Zealand and Canada on indemnity advice and defending insured claims. I have a particular interest in assisting insurers with policy coverage issues.I am a member of the New Zealand Insurance Law Association and the Society of Construction Law New Zealand. I am a recommended lawyer for insurance as recognised by the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2021 legal directory. I speak regularly at industry events and conferences on insurance law, construction disputes and director duties, and I was on the organising committee for the annual ANZIIF Liability Conference from 2015 to 2022. I am a contributing author to the New Zealand chapter in the Chambers Insurance & Reinsurance Global Practice Guide.I co-lead Duncan Cotterill\'s membership of Global Insurance Law Connect (\"GILC\").
