About Aaron Penny
I am North Carolina State University Computer Science Alumni with a background in developing software for national defense, legal, finance, emergency services, and government. I have experience building software to simplify and automate complex, mission-critical processes.After my dad unexpectedly passed away when I was 10, I sought out ways to use my love of technology to save and improve lives. Since age 16, I have applied software to improve emergency response and public safety knowledge in Johnston County, NC during life-or-death situations. My first task with the county was to build an emergency services website from scratch. This web development experience allowed me to find a particular interest in coding, leading me to digitize EMS protocols in our ambulances and to find new ways to improve how information flows within our EOC during disasters.Quickly after, I jumped into formal software development training at NCSU, where I graduated Rank 1 in the class of Spring 2022. I am now developing code that will positively impact even more people. Some of my non-work hobbies include collecting coins and historic firearms, sinking four wheelers in mud, hunting bourbon, and watching rocket launches.
