I manage a highly technical staff of digital cartographers, biogeographers, and geospatial scientists. We recently finished an 8 year, multimillion dollar project to develop an ecological systems (vegetation communities) geospatial database of Texas using satellite imagery, abiotic site factors, field data, and artificial intelligence as inputs to spatial modeling. We are currently using this data as a critical component of Conservation Opportunity Areas/Ecological Indices modeling. We are also developing web applications to facilitate the use of the ecological systems data as well as to allow for data collection in the field and to ease analysis and publication of geospatial data. I am an Associate Member of the Texas GIS Governance Council, represent Texas Parks and Wildlife on the Texas Geographic Information Coordination Team, on the UT Bureau of Economic Geology/US Geological Survey StateMap Committee, and serve on the USGS Texas Geographic Names Committee.
