About Aaron Knoll
I am a principal engineer in the AMD Research and Advanced Development (RAD) Graphics team, working on generative AI rendering, ray tracing and cloud graphics concept technologies. My recent interests have been diffusion and world models, model distillation, and vision transformers. I\'ve been in graphics, HPC and professional visualization field since 2009, working with US national labs and NSF HPC centers to improve their large-scale visualization capabilities. I received my PhD in 2009 from the University of Utah and have worked on ray tracing for visualization for over a decade. Lifelong passions have been finding ways to bring scientific visualization to the masses, and to make high-end graphics available to all via the cloud. Currently, I am investigating methods to bridge conventional real-time graphics and generative AI.
