ABOUT AARON JAISON

Believe me, an elementary school Spelling Bee is as serious as can be. You\'ve got your class cheering on as you try to spell a word exactly; no takebacks, just one chance to get it spot on. Somehow, some way, I\'d found myself in the final round. Right before I took the stage, all the moments that lead up to this came flooding into my brain. But let\'s rewind for a second. A few nights before, I realized that I had a special opportunity in my hands. I hadn\'t made this far into a Spelling Bee before, usually getting out in the early rounds because I switched i and e in achieve. So, I decided that I was going to try my hardest to win the School Spelling Bee. The next two nights were light on homework but sparse in breaks as I tried to quiz myself on as many words as possible. I had my mom make me recite word after word until it was time for bed, the eve of competition day. I woke up and performed my morning routine as usual, but I still had the competition weighing on my mind. Finally, it was time. I went up on the stage with butterflies a-fluttering, but as I spelt word after word, I grew confident. I dodged and weaved through all the words until there were two people left. Sudden death. If I got the word and she didn\'t I\'d win it all. She misspelt her word so it came down to me. I stepped on the stage and took a deep breath. This was it. I cleared all thoughts from my brain and spelt the word, going letter by letter in my head. I\'d spelt it correctly! I was overjoyed. I turned around, shook my competitor\'s hand, and celebrated the win with my friends. Unfortunately, it looks like I\'ve lost my touch around spelling words nowadays, but what I haven\'t lost is my work ethic and ability to keep a clear mind. No matter what comes my way, no matter the pressures, I make it my mission to push myself to the limit to achieve my goals. That workhorse-like mentality I possess has continued to reap benefits for me and others I have worked with. Nothing good in life comes easy, whether it\'s winning a Spelling Bee or getting a project done. But rest assured, I\'ll always be giving my all.
