About Aaron Girard

I lead a mostly remote team of ten buyers supporting manufacturing at five US locations. We work in direct procurement, much of it in support of US Govt. prime and subprime contracts, and comprising a little under $60M in total spend. A lot of what we buy winds up in simulation & training systems for aerospace, so our specialties are in optical and display technologies, machined metal and other fabbed parts, and interconnect. We work with export-controlled technical data and some CUI/CDI. My years as a buyer took place within an ever-evolving organizational structure affected by supply chain re-orgs, DCMA audits, industry downturns, and a couple of big mergers. This gave me a great curiosity about the different ways procurement can add value to an organization. On a practical level, I gained expertise in infrared and visible optics procurement, plus experience in microdisplays, CCAs, obsolescence procurement, subcontracts, and supplier relationship management.
