ABOUT AARON BROWN
I am a higher education executive with more than twenty years of experience advancing educational access, student success, and workforce-aligned outcomes through collaborative leadership and system-level strategy. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Council for Opportunity in Education, I provide enterprise leadership for a complex, mission-driven organization serving colleges, universities, and students nationwide. My work centers on aligning organizational strategy, policy, and operations to expand opportunity for first-generation and low-income learners, with a particular focus on strengthening the education-to-workforce pipeline and the economic mobility outcomes that follow.Previously, as Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Advising at the University of Texas at Arlington, I led institution-wide efforts to strengthen advising practices and student support structures in service of improved retention, completion, and graduation outcomes. That role required close partnership with faculty, academic leadership, and student services to translate institutional priorities into measurable student success.Across my career, I have worked to help organizations and institutions build systems that serve students effectively while responding to public expectations, workforce needs, and fiscal responsibility. I am motivated by the belief that higher education, when intentionally designed and responsibly led, remains one of the most powerful engines of economic opportunity.
