Core Work Activities:1. Research, develop and recommend program standards and requirements; provide input into program planning and development, the development of work plans, and in forecasting resource requirements.2. Coordinate, supervise, monitor and evaluate specialized and emergency operations and activities; lead significant emergency response occurrences in multiple National Parks. Coordinate cross-functional incident management and response activities for visitor safety incidents.3. Develop technical methods, standards and reports; serve as the technical lead in visitor safety; provide specialized technical visitor safety advice to Parks Canada staff and outside agencies in the area of risk management, search and rescue and avalanche control and forecasting.4. Supervise and coordinate a comprehensive avalanche program of snowpack investigation, climatological observation and tracking, avalanche occurrence monitoring, condition analysis and evaluation, forecasting, and artificial stabilization and control; and the operation of meteorological data collection sites involving remote sensing hardware, computer hardware and software.5. Design, coordinate and conduct technical training and delivers training to staff in National Parks Across Canada. Coordinate a program of employee and public education; oversee and deliver comprehensive and timely information, on avalanche control measures and safety to staff, external clients and stakeholders. Liaise, network and provide information and advice, and manage partnerships with other government agencies and external stakeholders.
