FAQ - AarishQ: What do you do?A: I engineer facades and work towards low carbon materials/designs. I work at the intersection of sustainability, materials, building sciences and technology, helping architects, builders, and developers bring their ideas to life I also ensure that these ideas are durable, cost efficient, climate friendly and built to last.Q: How did you end up here?A: I started in civil and structural design, long hours, site visits, and a lot of learning on how our work shapes the built environment. Over time, I found myself drawn toward how buildings work during their operation stage of life, which translated later into sustainability, embodied carbon, and material sciences, and somewhere along the way, artificial intelligence joined the mix. It sounds random, but it actually fits together perfectly.Q: What is your work like these days?A: I sit in the building science and structural - architectural space, one foot in engineering, one in sustainability, and both deep in the details and reviews. My work goes beyond calculations. I like connecting the dots and solving problem which have helped me immensely in Building Forensics part of my work. Q: What are you most focused on?A:1. Life Cycle Assessment; EPDs – Measuring and reducing embodied carbon, leading R&D in sustainability, talking about climate change, and working on projects that push ESG boundaries.2. AI & Digital Tools – Building tools that make technical knowledge accessible, automate workflows for my team, and help engineers move with the changing tech. Enabling people to use it as a tool, not replacement.3. Façade Engineering – Blending structure and architecture to create building envelopes that perform well, look good, and last long. This involves in construction, operational, end of life (accidental or natural) and retrofits. Q: What keeps you motivated?A: Curiosity. And the belief that every project is an opportunity to leave things better than we found them, through smarter design, better materials, and a bit of innovation.Q: What is next?A: Exploring how AI can reshape the AEC industry, from digital twins and embodied carbon dashboards to sustainable design workflows.
