ABOUT ARAVIND RAVI
I’m a Senior Research Scientist with 8+ years of industry and academic experience in biosignal processing, applied machine learning, and neurotechnology. I hold a Ph.D. in Systems Design Engineering (University of Waterloo), with a focus on non-invasive brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) and EEG signal processing. At InteraXon (Muse), I lead cross-functional R&D initiatives in biosignals and AI to build next-generation neurotechnology products for mental wellness, sleep, and cognitive health. My work spans from research to deployment—integrating machine learning models, building cloud-scale analysis pipelines, and translating scientific concepts into validated, user-facing features.I work across EEG, PPG, and fNIRS modalities, with a strong focus on digital biomarker development, signal integration, and model personalization. I’ve recently been exploring how agent-based systems and large language models can support real-time, adaptive user guidance grounded in biosignal data.Highlights: Pioneered a novel BCI paradigm combining visual and motor imagery for neuro-rehabilitation Led biosignal research for Muse S Athena—the first Muse device to integrate EEG and fNIRS Developed ML-driven sleep staging, biomarker extraction, and personalization algorithms Filed 3 patents on novel biosignal-informed techniques Guided research direction, experiment planning, and system validation across teamsCore Skills:Python | EEG | PPG | fNIRS | Deep Learning | Machine Learning | Signal Processing | Digital Biomarkers | Research Strategy | Cloud Platforms | Cross-Functional Collaboration Published Research & Writing: Medium Blog: medium.com/@aaravindravi Google Scholar: GitHub: github.com/aaravindravi Website: uwaterloo.ca/scholar/a22ravi Hobbies:Playing keyboard, composing music YouTube Channel: SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/aaravind
