The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) initiated the CFL project in 2017 to strengthen the financial literacy and inclusion levels of the rural population at a block level. Currently managing 93 CFL centres in Assam and Sikkim by closely working with Sponsor Banks, NABARD and the RBI along with 400 Managerial staff across the NE-1 by providing voluntary support to the programme to serve their communities, sometimes individuals (Rural Financial Advisors) and sometimes community institutions (Village Level Financial Inclusion Committees) and were supported by the CFL project by way of training, capacity building and facilitation.
