WORK HISTORY
Undergraduate Research Fellow @RIT Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences
Rochester, NY, US
KC Lab is a computational biology research group at the Rochester Institute of Technology focused on applying machine learning and data-driven methods to understand protein structure, function, and evolution. At KC Lab, I conduct research on predicting N-linked glycosylation sites in archaeal proteins using protein language models (ESM-2, ProtT5, etc.) and large language model techniques. My work involves analyzing 5–10 million-entry mass spectrometry datasets and building robust pipelines to prepare large-scale data for model training. I design and train deep learning models for protein sequence classification, applying transfer learning, low-rank adaptation (LoRA), and full sequence-based window embeddings (FSWE) to adapt human-derived models for low-resource archaeal domains. I also generate custom sequence embeddings, optimize performance on imbalanced datasets, and develop evaluation sets tailored to archaeal proteins. Beyond classification, I explore extensions using structural data (e.g, AlphaFold outputs) to deepen insights into glycosylation and post-translational modifications, contributing to the broader understanding of protein evolution and biomedical research.
