ABOUT ANDREW VANDERMEER

I strive to be a forward-thinking Christian in a decided world. My calling is to serve my neighbor through work which enhances public policy, demolishes the walls of oppression, and interrogates the world as it is to seek the world that could be. My work on a day-to-day basis as a student in the La Follette School, a research assistant to Dr. Melody Harvey, and a project assistant with Wisconsin Early Childhood Health Consultation at UW-Madison is to be highly involved in the communities that I call home, becoming steeped in current research and immersed in my network here. My goal over the next two years is to be able to make a seamless transition into professional life inside government working with social policy, workforce development, and educational institutions. My past professional experience includes four years of professional life as a K-12 Special Education teacher at two high schools in Indianapolis. I have also undertaken numerous internships in the business, non-profit, and government space which have provided a fantastic transition from teaching into public policy. My vision for the future is to continue to help people do what they do best better. I want to make every teacher\'s job a little easier by making every kid\'s life a little better.
