My name is Alyssa Mayleen and I am the Founder and Creative Director at BMC. At 15 years old, I yearned so badly to become the powerful woman that I’ve grown into. To me, Big Mood means entering rooms knowing you value yourself enough to not be phased by unsolicited opinions, it is owning your identity unapologetically, it is taking risks and betting on the experience not just the outcome, it is feeling empowered while empowering others, it is unconditional self love, it is removing yourself from toxic environments, it is giving yourself grace during growth and healing. Big Mood is a lifestyle, it is growing pains, it is bossness and all its glory, it is rewriting the narratives of our lives, it is surviving AND thriving. I am building a community and a platform for people who often feel silenced or disempowered by the world around us to amplify their voices through visual arts. My philosophy is all about affordability and accessibility. Growing up, many of the services I provide now were considered a luxury and were not afforded to us to celebrate big moments in our life or help us grow. Story telling is powerful and whether that\'s a video of a young woman showcasing her neighborhood in Chicago and how she is defying odds to pursue her aspirations or a young mother who plans to run for office in 2023 and wants to change her wardrobe or a family celebrating their mother\'s 60th birthday, they all deserve a platform to express those stories unapologetically and in a BIG MOOD.
