ABOUT A. J. RISTINO
Hello! My name is A.J, and I graduated from Carleton College with a double major in Computer Science and Spanish. Though my career is still in its infancy, I have already cultivated a diverse skill set that bridges technical expertise and cultural fluency. My academic journey, highlighted by graduating with distinction in Spanish and participating in an abroad program at La Universidad Complutense de Madrid, complements my strong foundation in computer science, evidenced by coursework in software design, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. During my internships at Vermont Mutual Insurance Group, I gained hands-on experience in system administration and IT support. I contributed to critical infrastructure rebuilding efforts post-2023 Montpelier flood and developed a Windows 11 Gold system image prototype. My role also involved daily IT department activities, from remote and in-house system repairs to performance analysis of remote-system imaging processes. In addition to professional experience, I have spearheaded academic projects like DNA sequencing using the Burrows-Wheeler Transform and fake news classification using machine learning models. These projects allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, utilizing tools such as Python, Sci-Kit, and Jupyter notebooks. Beyond my technical capabilities, I have served as a Teaching Assistant and mentor at Carleton College, demonstrating my commitment to education and leadership. My externship with LinkedIn\'s Careers in Software Engineering externship program through Carleton further showcased my ability to collaborate and innovate, as we developed an MVP for a meta-analysis tool for Clash Royale.
