WORK HISTORY
Co-founder @Colabs
CT, US
I owned restaurants for years.Worked every station. Bussed tables, cleaned bathrooms, closed the bar. I loved it.But somewhere along the way I noticed something about myself. The days I loved weren\'t the slammed Saturday nights. They were the quiet mornings when I didn\'t have to go in. When I could sit at a computer, think through a problem, build something that actually scaled.Restaurants need you there. They eat capital, labor and time. They never stop being hungry. So I left. And I started CoLabs.Because what I\'d figured out about myself, I kept seeing in the founders I met.An electrician who\'d been doing $2M a year for 15 years. Same revenue, same exhaustion, same ceiling. We looked at his pricing and found some quick wins that increased revenue and profits within a few months. He ended up winning a contract worth more than his entire previous year of revenue.A contractor who\'d never made a profit in four or five years of ownership. We set up a real system, cleaned up his books and within three months he was profitable. For the first time ever. They were doing every job in the business except the one that actually grows it.That\'s what CoLabs fixes. We place and manage trained virtual team members. We build the systems: CRMs, SOPs and quoting workflows. We handle the ops so founders can get back to leading.Month to month. Performance guaranteed. If it\'s not working, you walk away.If the business is working but you\'re drowning in it, let\'s talk.
ABOUT ALEX FOULKES
I didn’t set out to build a company that helps service business owners. I spent ten years owning restaurants. What I loved most wasn’t the food.It was the strategy. The systems. Making chaotic businesses run clean. In 2023 my partner said something I couldn\'t shake. Every trades business we worked with had the same problem. Owner drowning. Phones ringing. No separation. Always busy. Never ahead. That idea became a real business 3 months later. I didn\'t want to just consult. We stepped in. Answering phones. Building systems. Fixing pricing. Taking the pressure off.The first owner we worked with went from $311K to $478K in under a year. More importantly, he stopped taking calls from job sites and got his evenings back.Another client took his second generation plumbing business in CT from 230k a year to just over $400k in 16 months. His parents had done everything for 15 years, now he\'s running it with a team making more money and working less. That’s when I knew we had something. So I sold my restaurants and went all in.Here’s how it actually works:• We start by downloading the business. How it really runs and where everything still flows through the owner.• We get clear on what the owner actually wants, not just more revenue, but what they want their life to look like.• We remove the first pressure points. Late night invoicing, scheduling, follow-ups. Anything pulling the owner back into the weeds.• Once things are running smoother, we fix the leaks. Pricing, efficiency and systems that stop time and money from bleeding out.• Then we build the support so the business can grow without pulling the owner back in.Since launching, the pattern has repeated. An electrical contractor who\'d spent nearly two decades building a solid $1.7M company was turning down bigger projects because they felt too big, too risky. We didn\'t just work on his tools and systems. We looked at what he believed was possible. Three years later:$7.5M and in 2026, he\'s pacing toward $10M with over $5M already booked as of Feb 2026.The growth wasn’t just about better tools, it was about the owner and what he believed possible.That\'s the work. Removing what\'s holding you back, from the phones ringing at dinner, to the belief that bigger is too risky, until the business can finally grow without pulling you back in.If you run a service business and everything still runs through you, DM me and we’ll talk about what it can look like.
