The role commenced during a critical mobilisation phase with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, as the site was preparing to go live. This required rapid familiarisation with organisations procedures, management systems and client expectations while ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.The primary objective was to support the operational and business improvement team in implementing the Health & Safety systems at site level and to establishing a strong safety culture across operations.Working collaboratively with the Head of Safety & Risk and BI team, the role focused on delivering the HSEQ plan through site inspections, audits, risk assessments and contractor management. Responsibilities included supporting the development of SOPs and SSoW, conducting workplace inspections, identifying hazards and monitoring corrective actions. Additional duties involved facilitating operational meetings, delivering support staff inductions and management training and contributing to the mobilisation of HSEQ management systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards. The position also involved conducting regular food safety inspections, investigation of incidents including RIDDOR-reportable events and the preparation of analytical safety reports.The mobilisation and go-live phase were completed successfully, while embedding a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness established across the workforce. The role contributed to stronger due diligence processes, enhanced communication between management and operational teams, and measurable improvements in overall site health and safety performance.
