Strategic Logistics consulting within the company brands, including business planning & transportation strategy development. Lead the trucking division as an internal service to the sister companies, including acting as an internal profit center.Provide consulting services and direction to develop and ensure the most efficient and effective methods of transportation for but not limited to: 1) Increase customer service and reliability a. Increase sub-hauling resources to ensure on-time delivery and satisfaction of late or last minute customer requirements.b.To alleviate the burden of arranging transportation by yard personnel.c.To provide visibility within the Transportation subsidiary to all loads in order to achieve maximum utilization of equipment or sub-haulers and be able to meet all subsidary service requirements and communicate ETA’s. 2) Provide competitive freight ratesa. Provide the best possible freight rates.b.Utilizing internal scale; negotiate with carriers, with the emphasis placed on leveraging the large number of loads.c. Provide internal dispatch support services that increase communication and reliability.d. Explore and communicate freight mode options to reduce costs.3) Manage the rail supply chaina. Negotiate rates for yards that have rail service.b. Act as the liaison between subsidary, Union Pacific and BNSF.c. Negotiate track service agreements, including car profile, service needs, etc.d. Assist in Developing new rail sites as needed. e.Track rail car shipments to insure we meet carrier requirements and communicate results on a monthly basis.4) Assist subsidaries in capturing profits by controlling freight from manufacturersa. Develop a freight matrix that is reviewed monthly. b. Communicate rates to subsidary Merchants.c. Assist as needed in developing a freight matrix in SAP to include those rates at PO entry for certain manufacturing plants.
