Tianyi Li is a visiting assistant professor for the TWU MHA Program, where he teaches healthcare finance, financial accounting, and managerial accounting. Professionally, Li is an emerging scholar focused on nonprofit finance and financial management. His primary research interests include nonprofit finance, public policy, and philanthropic studies. He is a PhD candidate (ABD) at the University of Texas at Dallas. Li is an active member of several academic associations, including the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), the Association for Public Analysis and Management, the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action, and the International City/County Management Association. He was elected as the treasurer of the Section on Chinese Public Administration of ASPA and is currently serving in that role. He also volunteers as the treasurer for the Dallas International School Parent Teacher Association to support his daughter. Beyond his academic achievements and service commitments, Li has a business background in marketing research and financial investment in both China and the US.

   Dr. Tianyi Li is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Health Care Administration in the Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Texas Woman’s University. He joined TWU in Fall 2024 and currently leads the Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting course series, while also teaching Healthcare Finance and Healthcare Policy in the Healthcare Administration program. Dr. Li earned his Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas in May 2025, with research focused on nonprofit finance, public policy, and philanthropy. He also holds an MBA and an M.S. in Marketing Research from the University of Texas at Arlington, as well as a BBA in General Business Administration.Dr. Li brings a distinctive blend of academic expertise and real-world experience to the classroom. He is currently an affiliated researcher at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. He was named a 2025 Founders’ Fellow by the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) and selected as a 2025–2026 Research Fellow at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Li worked in marketing research consulting and financial portfolio investment, gaining professional experience in both China and the United States. His cross-sector background provides him with a practical understanding of finance, data analysis, and strategic decision-making in both business and nonprofit environments. Dr. Li is an active member of several academic and professional associations, including the American Public Health Association (APHA), the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA). He also serves in a leadership role as Treasurer of ASPA’s Section on Chinese Public Administration.
