ABOUT CHRISTELLE VAN VUUREN
Christelle is a senior strategic climate change and decarbonization specialist, with a creative, collaborative, problem-solving mindset and cross-cutting understanding of corporate transitions, sustainable finance (advisory and assurance), and strategic climate action responses. Her focus is primarily on strategy advisory related to sustainable financing and climate and social transitions (in mining, telecoms, transport and energy), delivering projects that contribute to improving the environmental and social sustainability of clients and impact of IFC’s investments. Prior to joining IFC as Decarbonization Lead for Sustainable Infra Advisory, she held a series of roles, including Africa Director for Carbon Trust, providing technical and operational oversight, leading strategic business development, and managing complex regional projects for manifesto and corporate clients. Her specialism is in strategic advice decarbonizing business, especially for mining clients, and supporting and accelerating the establishment of sustainable finance. She was the technical lead for the development of the South African Green Finance Taxonomy and has been involved in a range of other \'firsts\' in SA\'s green finance landscape. She’s also worked as a production engineer in mining, technical non-financial assurance lead, and as an industry air quality impact specialist.
